About Us
Mission Statement
The Global Ideas Initiative (GII) is an independent, non-partisan think tank founded in 2026. We are dedicated to deepening the understanding of the world's greatest challenges through dialogue, research, and analysis.
We inhabit a divided world, scarred by the enduring scourge of war, conflict, and polarisation. Strikingly, the modern period has seen a string of shocks, from global pandemics to financial crises to mass displacement, that have tested our collective resolve. Yet precisely when collective resolve is most needed, we are witnessing an increased assault on multilateral institutions. Once viewed as focal points for dialogue and reciprocity, they are now increasingly viewed as obstacles to national interests. These trends point to the emergence of a new world order marked by disorder, where the rules, norms, and principles that once governed the international community are either disregarded or deemed unfit for a world dominated by the resurgence of power politics.
The GII was founded as a civil society platform to help undo this trend. Our mission is to address the global challenges that threaten civic progress and produce significant adversity, from the malign use of AI and nuclear proliferation to political violence and rising levels of abject poverty. We do so by convening leaders from civil society, academia, business, and public service to forge answers that are of the highest calibre.
Through our dialogue series and publications programme, we work to ensure that knowledge and understanding of these challenges are furthered. In this pursuit, we are hereto guided by the belief that meaningful exchange, irrespective of differences of opinion, must advance the premise that we, as human beings, are agents of progress who have both the capability and, thus, a shared responsibility to make a positive difference.
To this end, our work centres on three key areas:
Above all else, what underpins our work is our dedication to realising the notion of “We the Peoples”, drawn from the opening words of the UN Charter. We see this as both a guiding pledge and a duty: an aspirational call that inspired our forebears and must continue to guide us in building a world where good ideas prevail, one idea at a time.
